Ltd. runs through the OCR’s CAMIS portal online, and the queue is national rather than local, so a company registered from Kathmandu and one registered from Dhangadhi move at the same speed. Where Kathmandu genuinely helps is everything around incorporation: notaries, auditors, corporate bank desks and the sector regulators are all physically here, which shortens the steps that still need somebody in a room.

Do I need a Kathmandu address to register a company in Kathmandu?

You need a registered office address in the jurisdiction you are registering in, evidenced by a rent agreement or Lalpurja. It does not have to be a commercial space for most business types — IT and consulting companies commonly register at a residential address — but it does have to be an address you can actually receive correspondence at, and the ward will register the business against it.

Do I have to travel to Kathmandu to register a company from Kathmandu?

No. Pvt. Ltd. incorporation is filed on the CAMIS portal and the PAN now issues through CAMIS too, so the company side is done online. What still needs someone locally is the ward registration and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City business licence — and, for a firm, the local registration itself.
